Prime Dairy, operated by Prime Value Asset Management, has surpassed 10,000 milking cows across Tasmania and Victoria, Australia. The company supplies its milk to global dairy processor Fonterra and continues to invest in operational efficiency and workforce sustainability.

Prime Dairy, operated by Prime Value Asset Management, has surpassed 10,000 milking cows, establishing itself as a major dairy force in Tasmania and Victoria, Australia. The company expects to deliver over 50 million litres of milk and 4 million kilograms of milk solids this year, primarily to Fonterra, a global leader in dairy processing.

This landmark was made possible by a series of acquisitions, including the 2021 purchase of 11 dairy farms in Circular Head, Tasmania, allowing Prime Dairy to consolidate fragmented operations into more productive and efficient farms. Currently, about 85% of Prime Dairy’s herd is located in Tasmania, with the remainder based in Victoria.

Harrison Stewart, Senior Investment Analyst at Prime Value Asset Management, noted the significant improvements in infrastructure and management practices across the merged properties. These upgrades have enhanced cost efficiency, sustainability, and milk output in a challenging pricing environment.

In response to industry-wide labor shortages, Prime Dairy has implemented a proactive workforce strategy that includes visa programs, competitive wages, and flexible work schedules, making it a sought-after employer in Tasmania’s agricultural sector.

The farmgate milk price offered by Fonterra started at AUD 8.60 per kg of milk solids and increased to AUD 8.90 before July, providing some pricing relief for Prime Dairy and strengthening its growth outlook.

With plans to continue scaling its operations and investing in infrastructure and workforce development, Prime Dairy aims to set new benchmarks in Australian dairy production.
