Müller UK & Ireland, a leading dairy company, has launched a dedicated organic milk programme to support farmers and stabilize the organic milk supply chain in the United Kingdom. The initiative includes a new pricing model and partnerships with retail chains to address declining production and rising input costs.

Müller UK & Ireland, one of the UK’s leading dairy companies, has introduced a new organic milk programme designed to secure long-term supply chain sustainability and support its network of organic farmers. The initiative, launched in collaboration with retail partners, addresses multiple challenges facing the British organic dairy sector, including volatile pricing and increased operational costs.

The programme is part of Müller’s broader strategy to enhance its ‘Müller Advantage’ offering. This new organic framework introduces a Müller-led pricing model that considers key factors such as farmgate milk price fluctuations, succession difficulties, labour pressures, and emission reduction demands. Since 2020, these challenges have caused some farmers to exit organic production, prompting the need for industry-led solutions.

Richard Collins, Head of Agriculture at Müller Milk & Ingredients, emphasized the urgency of reinforcing organic milk supply. “There has been a decline in British organic dairy production over the past five years. Realistic and genuine support from processors and retail partners is vital,” he said.

Adam Stanbury, organic dairy farmer and Müller Milk Group board member, praised the company’s collaborative approach with its farming community. “It’s reassuring to see Müller engaging directly with MMG and addressing the unique challenges of organic suppliers.”

The programme also integrates Müller’s Next Generation and Fast Track initiatives, both of which are designed to reduce carbon emissions through real-time data insights and sustainable farming practices. These tools will aid farmers in future-proofing their operations, improving efficiency, and encouraging environmentally responsible growth.

Müller’s organic initiative is expected to benefit around 60 organic milk suppliers across the UK, offering a pathway to improved income stability and renewed investment in organic production. The move is a strategic response to growing consumer demand for organic products and a declining pool of domestic organic dairy supply.
