Upstate Niagara Cooperative, a leading farmer-owned dairy cooperative in the United States, has rebranded as UNC Dairy to reflect its evolving identity. The change comes as the New York-based group expands its production facilities to meet growing demand for Greek yogurt and cottage cheese.

The Upstate Niagara Cooperative, a major player in the United States dairy industry, has officially rebranded itself as UNC Dairy. Based in New York, the cooperative is known for its well-regarded brands such as Upstate Farms milk and Bison dip. The organization comprises over 230 farmer-owners and operates numerous processing facilities across New York and Pennsylvania.

According to CEO Kevin Ellis, the rebranding reflects the cooperative’s modern approach to dairy innovation while honoring its farmer-driven legacy. “Our visual identity is more than just a fresh look; these new brand elements better represent our deep-rooted commitment to producing high-quality, innovative dairy products,” Ellis shared in an interview with Dairy Foods magazine.

This symbolic rebranding is also timed with the expansion of the cooperative’s production facility in West Seneca, New York, a strategic move to support growing market demand for products like Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. The cooperative continues operations in key regional hubs such as Buffalo, Rochester, Batavia, Syracuse, North Lawrence, and Williamsport, Pennsylvania, while maintaining the existing consumer-facing brand names.

Despite the name change, UNC Dairy’s mission remains centered around quality, innovation, and strong relationships with its member farms, highlighting the strength of cooperative models in American agriculture.
