Mother Dairy, one of India’s leading milk suppliers, will increase milk prices by up to Rs 2 per litre in Delhi, India starting April 30, 2025, due to rising procurement costs from early summer and heatwave conditions. The revised rates apply to all major milk variants, affecting millions of daily consumers across Delhi-NCR.

Mother Dairy, one of India’s largest milk suppliers and a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has announced an increase in milk prices by up to Rs 2 per litre in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The hike, effective from April 30, 2025, comes in response to a significant rise in procurement costs attributed to early summer conditions and a severe heatwave.

In recent months, procurement prices for raw milk have surged by Rs 4–5 per litre, prompting the company to pass part of the burden onto consumers. Mother Dairy currently distributes around 3.5 million litres of milk daily across Delhi-NCR through its network of booths and retail channels.

According to the revised prices:

  • Loose toned milk will rise from Rs 54 to Rs 56 per litre.
  • Toned milk (pouch) will increase to Rs 57 from Rs 56.
  • Full cream milk (pouch) will cost Rs 69, up from Rs 68.
  • Double-toned milk will be priced at Rs 51, compared to Rs 49 earlier.
  • Cow milk will now sell at Rs 59 per litre, up from Rs 57.

The company stated that the price revision is necessary to sustain farmer interest and ensure continued milk supply amid rising input costs.

This marks another significant development in India’s dairy sector, highlighting the impact of climate-related stress on food supply chains and retail prices.
