EuroTier, the world’s leading livestock equipment trade fair, will showcase groundbreaking technology aimed at helping dairy farmers achieve sustainability from November 12 to 15 in Hanover, Germany. Among the innovations presented will be CalfGPT, developed by Forster-Technik, a German company renowned for its advanced solutions in livestock management. The event is expected to attract around 120,000 visitors and feature over 2,100 exhibitors from 52 countries, highlighting the latest advancements in the livestock sector.

At EuroTier, five innovative products have already received recognition with innovation medals, demonstrating the commitment of the industry to improve animal welfare and farm efficiency. Here are the highlights:

  1. Cow-Welfare: Flex Air Stall
Danish company Cow-Welfare has introduced the Flex Air Stall, an air supply system designed to enhance cow comfort. Integrated into their existing Flex Stall cubicle range, this system brings in fresh outdoor air through a hose ventilation system and directs it into the lying area at a 45-degree angle. This innovation not only helps reduce heat stress but also boosts productivity among dairy cows. The Flex Air Stall has been awarded the EuroTier Animal Welfare Award 2024 for its contributions to improving animal living conditions.
  2. Forster-Technik: CalfGPT
Forster-Technik’s CalfGPT leverages advanced AI technology to allow farmers to monitor the health status of individual calves using voice commands. The system connects to the farm’s WiFi and gathers data from calf feeders via Bluetooth, providing farmers with instant information about their calves through vocal responses and mobile alerts, enhancing management efficiency on the farm.
  3. Spinder: Spinder Track
The Dutch company Spinder Dairy Housing Concepts has unveiled the Spinder Track, a sliding gate system that can be adjusted to accommodate the changing number of cows in a barn. This innovative design allows one person to easily operate and lock the gate in various positions, providing flexibility in barn space management. The system can be installed in new constructions and retrofitted to existing barns, adapting to specific barn requirements.
  4. Kraiburg: espaFLEX
Kraiburg has developed espaFLEX, a specialized rubber matting designed for slatted floors that helps reduce ammonia levels produced from animal waste. The mat features a unique corrugated profile that enables efficient drainage, resulting in drier surfaces that promote better hoof health. Its design allows cleaning robots to operate effectively without hindrance.
  5. Urban: Sip Control
Urban has introduced SipControl, a monitoring system for suckling calves that assesses their welfare by analyzing sucking strength and swallowing patterns. Utilizing high-resolution sensors, SipControl tracks vital metrics during the feeding process, enabling farmers to adapt the suckling duration to individual calves and providing predictive health monitoring through deviations in sucking behavior.

EuroTier 2024 promises to be a pivotal event for the dairy industry, showcasing these innovative technologies that aim to enhance the sustainability and welfare of dairy farming practices. With these advancements, the event underscores the commitment of global companies to support dairy farmers in meeting modern challenges.
