In a major development in Argentina’s Córdoba province, dairy company Elcor, known for its Tonadita brand, is set to manage the commercialization and distribution of SanCor products, possibly reviving some of SanCor’s dormant plants.
In a surprising strategic shift within Argentina’s dairy sector, Elcor, the company behind the Tonadita brand, is reportedly taking over the commercialization and distribution of products for SanCor, one of the country’s long-standing dairy cooperatives.
SanCor, headquartered in Sunchales, Santa Fe, is known for its dairy products ranging from milk to cheeses and yogurts and has historically been a central figure in Argentina’s cooperative dairy network. However, in recent months, the company faced severe operational halts due to internal distribution challenges and financial distress, prompting speculations about its dismantling and the potential sale of its remaining facilities.
Elcor, based in Córdoba and recognized for its growing footprint in Latin American and global dairy markets, has stepped in with a fresh distribution strategy. Known for its Tonadita brand, Elcor supplies international fast-food chains like McDonald’s and Burger King, exports to over 40 countries, and has expanded production into Chile.
With this new agreement, Elcor plans to use its own logistics and commercial resources to resume SanCor’s market presence, possibly reactivating some of its stalled facilities. The move may signal more than just a distribution deal — it could hint at deeper involvement by Elcor in SanCor’s operations.
While the final announcement is pending, internal sources confirm the deal is close to formalization and could reshape the trajectory of both companies in Argentina’s competitive dairy market.
