Indian packaging giant Uflex Group, through its subsidiary Asepto, has unveiled plans to establish a high-tech production facility in Russia’s Smolensk Region. The facility will specialize in manufacturing aseptic packaging materials for beverages, including dairy products, juices, and other liquid foods. The proposed plant will be located in the “Stabna” Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a strategic location that provides favorable tax incentives and government support to help foster the development of the project.

The news was revealed following a meeting between the Governor of Smolensk Region, Vasily Anokhin, and Ashwani Kumar Sharma, the President and CEO of Asepto, which took place in Moscow. The collaboration aims to leverage the region’s advantages, including its proximity to key logistics routes and favorable economic conditions. Although the total investment for the project has not been disclosed, the regional government has already taken steps to create the necessary infrastructure and conditions for the successful implementation of the venture.

Uflex Group is a leading Indian packaging manufacturer, with a global presence in more than 140 countries. Known for its expertise in flexible packaging solutions, Uflex is particularly renowned for its innovative aseptic packaging, a technology highly sought after in the food industry due to its ability to preserve products without refrigeration.

This new venture marks a significant step in Uflex’s global expansion strategy and reflects Russia’s growing importance as a key player in the global packaging sector. The facility’s establishment will not only contribute to local economic growth but also bolster Russia’s position in the global food and beverage packaging market.

As the company continues to develop its plans, local authorities in the Smolensk Region remain committed to supporting the project and fostering an environment conducive to growth and innovation.
