Müller, a global dairy leader, has acquired Yew Tree Dairy, based in West Lancashire. The CMA approved the merger after reviewing its impact on competition in the UK.
The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has given the green light to Müller’s acquisition of Yew Tree Dairy, a family-owned dairy company based in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire. Müller, a German-headquartered dairy giant, is known for producing yogurt, milk, and other dairy products.
Yew Tree Dairy, which produces fresh milk and cream, has expanded its capabilities in recent years to specialize in milk powder production. This acquisition aligns with Müller’s strategic efforts to strengthen its operations in the UK dairy market.
The CMA initiated a merger inquiry in August 2024 to assess the potential impact on competition. Following its investigation, the authority approved the transaction, confirming that the deal poses no significant competition concerns.
Hutchison added that the combination of Müller’s resilient network with Yew Tree’s expertise would enhance the performance of both businesses.
Müller’s acquisition reflects the company’s long-term commitment to expanding in the UK and supporting the local dairy industry through improved production capabilities and market reach.
