Four individuals linked to the Tirupati Laddu case were arrested by the CBI for ghee supply violations, exposing tender manipulation and foreign fats in the ghee.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested four individuals in connection with the Tirupati Laddu case, exposing major irregularities in the supply of ghee for the sacred prasadam. Among those arrested were representatives from organizations like AR Dairy (Tamil Nadu), Parag Dairy (Uttar Pradesh), Premier Agri Foods, and Alpha Milk Foods, all of which were involved in manipulating the tender processes using false documents.

AR Dairy, based in Tamil Nadu, and other involved dairies, had been supplying ghee to the Tirumala temple for the preparation of its world-renowned Laddu prasadam. Investigations revealed foreign fats present in the ghee, leading to significant concerns over the quality of the Laddu prasadam. Lab tests confirmed the contamination, prompting swift action from authorities and a change in suppliers to maintain the quality and sanctity of the offering.

The arrested individuals were sent to judicial custody by a Tirupati court, where they will remain until February 20. The CBI’s investigation continues to delve into the irregularities that occurred at various stages of the ghee supply process, with actions now being taken to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.

This scandal has raised serious questions about the safety and authenticity of the offerings at the Tirumala temple, highlighting the need for stricter oversight in the procurement processes of sacred food items.
