Armenia introduces stricter labeling regulations for dairy and meat products starting April 27, 2025, mandating transparency and consumer safety.
Armenia is set to enforce new and stricter labeling regulations for dairy and meat products, effective from April 27, 2025. These changes, mandated by the country’s Food Safety Inspection Authority, are aimed at enhancing consumer protection and ensuring transparency in food labeling.
The updated regulations, which amend the Code of Administrative Offenses, require that products containing milk fat substitutes must be clearly labeled and segregated on store shelves. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns about consumer awareness and product composition. According to the new rules, any product containing milk fat substitutes must bear the label “contains milk fat substitute” in prominent text.
In addition, the legislation mandates that meat products must include documentation proving the licensed slaughter of livestock, ensuring that all meat sold is traceable and sourced from certified operations. This is part of Armenia’s broader efforts to enhance food safety and protect consumers from potentially misleading or unsafe food products.
These changes will provide clearer information for consumers, allowing them to make informed decisions about the food they purchase, while promoting greater accountability within the Armenian food industry.
