In Peru’s Cusco region, PLACME, a dairy plant in Espinar, has renewed its international HACCP certification with support from Compañía Minera Antapaccay and six local farming communities, ensuring food safety and quality until 2027.
PLACME, a local dairy processing plant based in Espinar, Peru, officially renewed its international HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification, securing product safety and quality compliance through 2027. The certification was granted by DIGESA, Peru’s Directorate General of Environmental Health and Food Safety, after a rigorous five-day inspection held in March.
PLACME, which operates under the D’Altura brand, is the only dairy plant in the Cusco region to hold this prestigious certification. Its product line includes fresh and matured cheeses, yogurt, butter, syrup, and pasteurized milk. This recognition places the plant at the forefront of Peru’s dairy safety and quality standards.
The certification process was made possible through the support of Compañía Minera Antapaccay, a mining company that funded the effort under the Convenio Marco de Espinar agreement. The initiative was also bolstered by six farming communities in the region, which collectively contribute more than 2,400 liters of milk daily to the plant.
Raúl Mamani, PLACME’s plant manager, highlighted the vital role of local livestock health in maintaining consistent quality. “Our commitment to quality begins with the cows,” Mamani said. “This certification reflects the dedication of every farmer and partner involved.”
By achieving this international standard, PLACME not only reinforces its current operations but also opens doors to expanded domestic and international market opportunities. The certification underlines the strength of Espinar’s agricultural ecosystem and its growing impact on Peru’s food industry.
