Kaurina’s Kulfi, a Texas-based frozen dessert company, is expanding its U.S. market reach as demand for authentic Indian kulfi rises.
Kaurina’s Kulfi, a Texas-based frozen dessert company specializing in traditional Indian kulfi, is expanding its presence across the United States as demand for global flavors rises. The company, founded over 20 years ago, has grown from a small family-run kitchen into a large-scale operation supplying major retailers, including Costco, Whole Foods, and H-E-B.
Kulfi Gains Popularity in the U.S.
Kulfi, a traditional Indian frozen dessert dating back to the Mughal era, differs from ice cream due to its dense, creamy texture and slower melting rate. Unlike conventional ice cream, kulfi is not whipped, making it richer and more indulgent. Kaurina’s Kulfi offers a variety of flavors, including Malai, Mango, Pistachio Almond, and a new Rose Cream flavor inspired by Indian floral desserts.
Kulfi is its own category—it’s not ice cream, gelato, or sorbet. Its texture and natural ingredients set it apart in the frozen dessert market.”

Family Business Turned Nationwide Brand
The Singh family immigrated to the United States in the 1970s, settling in Texas. Hari Singh, originally a geologist, transitioned to the food industry after being laid off, leading to the creation of Kaurina’s Kulfi. The company started in a small commercial kitchen before expanding to a 30,000-square-foot facility in Dallas, Texas, in 2019. It gained traction after securing its first major retail deal with Costco in 2012 and winning awards at the World Dairy Expo.
Healthier Alternative to Ice Cream
Kaurina’s Kulfi appeals to health-conscious consumers due to its lower calorie count compared to traditional ice cream. Each snack-sized pop contains just 80 calories, and the product is gluten-free, made with natural ingredients like half-and-half milk, cane sugar, and real flavoring.

Kaurina’s Kulfi has expanded beyond Texas, securing retail space in California, the Northeast, and the Northwest. Its products are now available in Food Bazaar, Morton Williams, and Gourmet Garage. The company sees kulfi as an untapped opportunity in the U.S. frozen dessert market, introducing it to both Indian and mainstream consumers.
As Kaurina’s Kulfi continues its expansion, it aims to make kulfi a household name across the country, blending tradition with modern retail success.
