The Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation has signed a contract to procure 1,500 pregnant Holstein cows for Mleiha Dairy Farm, expanding its herd to meet the demand for organic milk. This initiative aligns with the Ruler’s vision for enhancing food safety and quality.
In line with directives from H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation (EKTFA) has signed a contract to procure a third batch of cows for Mleiha Dairy Farm. This initiative aims to expand the core herd from 5,000 to 8,000 cows to meet the rising demand for organic milk in the local market.
The contract was finalized between Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of EKTFA, and Cüneyt Kocakulak, General Manager of Inntro Agrar Gmbh. The signing ceremony was attended by Salem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, along with several senior officials from both organizations.
The agreement specifies the supply of 1,500 pregnant Holstein cows from the Danish A2A2 breed, known for their non-genetically modified A2A2 genes. These cows will be transported by air, equipped with all necessary health and nutritional requirements, and will comply with UAE regulations for livestock importation.
Dr. Al Tunaiji emphasized that this contract aligns with the Ruler’s vision for the Mleiha Dairy Farm, which is part of a broader strategy to enhance food safety and quality in Sharjah.
The Mleiha Dairy Farm project also supports academic and community-focused research, collaborating with top universities like the University of Al Dhaid to explore the benefits of these clean, healthy products. Al Tunaiji added that the partnership with Inntro Agrar Gmbh is crucial for meeting the specifications outlined in the Sharjah Food Strategy.
Cüneyt Kocakulak expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing collaboration with the Sharjah government, highlighting their commitment to adhering to best international practices in organic food production. He reaffirmed that these efforts aim to satisfy consumer needs and expectations while fostering sustainable practices in the dairy industry.
