Mengniu Dairy has been awarded the prestigious ‘Lighthouse Factory’ certification by the World Economic Forum for its fully intelligent dairy facility in Ningxia, China. The factory uses Tetra Pak’s advanced digital solutions, reducing operational costs and boosting efficiency.
Mengniu Dairy, one of China’s leading dairy producers, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Lighthouse Factory’ certification by the World Economic Forum (WEF) for its fully intelligent dairy factory in Ningxia, China. The certification acknowledges the factory’s innovative approach to production, powered by Tetra Pak’s cutting-edge technology and digital solutions.
The Ningxia plant was recognized for implementing over 30 advanced use cases based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies. The factory integrates Tetra Pak’s digital platform, automating the entire production process, from milk processing to packaging. This real-time monitoring system ensures optimal performance and efficiency, reducing operational costs by 32%, delivery lead times by 55%, and product defects by 60%.
Mengniu’s plant in Ningxia aims to achieve the highest annual efficiency in global dairy production, with a target of over 1 million tonnes of dairy products annually, valued at RMB 10 billion (€1.3 billion). The site operates with a workforce of 100 employees, all trained to use advanced digital systems that streamline operations and enhance productivity.
Tetra Pak’s innovative technologies, such as the Tetra Pak® E3/Speed Hyper, the world’s fastest carton packaging machine, and its advanced plant integration, have played a significant role in Mengniu’s success. The partnership between Mengniu and Tetra Pak has set new standards in dairy manufacturing, focusing on both operational excellence and sustainability.
