India’s Andhra Pradesh is set for a major rural economic boost with new investments by Shreeja Milk Producer Organisation and Mother Dairy in Chittoor district. These projects aim to generate jobs, enhance infrastructure, and empower local farmers through direct sourcing.
The state of Andhra Pradesh is set to witness a transformative boost in its rural economy through major investments in the dairy and horticulture sectors. As part of its ‘Swarna Andhra’ vision, the government has confirmed that Shreeja Milk Producer Organisation, India’s largest women-led dairy cooperative based in Tirupati, and Mother Dairy, a prominent Delhi-based subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), will establish new facilities in Kuppam, Chittoor district.
Announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the two projects involve the development of a dairy and animal feed processing unit by Shreeja and a fruit pulp processing plant by Mother Dairy. These projects aim to create approximately 8,000 new jobs while enhancing market access and income for local dairy and horticulture farmers.
The state government has allocated suitable land for both ventures through the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA). As per the agreement, both companies have been urged to complete construction and operationalization within 15 to 18 months to accelerate economic benefits for the region.
These strategic developments are expected to directly connect farmers with formal markets, thereby reducing dependency on intermediaries and promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
