Lactalis, the France-based dairy giant, is expanding its operations in Paraná, Brazil, with a $55.3 million investment. The funds will enhance production facilities in Londrina and Carambeí, boosting output for UHT milk, yogurt, fermented milk, dairy beverages, and desserts. The investment follows agreements with the Paraná state government on March 18.
Lactalis, a leading global dairy company headquartered in Laval, France, is strengthening its presence in Brazil with a significant $55.3 million investment in Paraná. The expansion aims to enhance production capacity and reinforce the company’s role in the country’s milk supply chain.
The investment will fund a new UHT milk production line at Lactalis’ Londrina facility and an expansion at its Carambeí plant to boost the production of yogurts, fermented milk, dairy beverages, and desserts. The agreements for the expansion were formalized on March 18 in Curitiba, during a ceremony attended by Paraná Governor Ratinho Júnior and Lactalis’ CEO in Brazil, Roosevelt Junior.
Lactalis has been operating in Paraná for a decade, investing over $125.5 million in the region. The Carambeí facility, the largest in Paraná, employs 830 workers, while Londrina has 280 employees and Pato Branco has 36. The company has not yet disclosed if the latest investment will lead to job creation.
This move follows a $44.7 million investment in Minas Gerais announced in November to modernize and expand seven factories. Additionally, Lactalis committed $17.9 million in March to upgrade five plants in Rio Grande do Sul. Beyond Brazil, Lactalis continues its South American expansion, recently announcing plans to acquire Uruguay-based Granja Pocha, a cheese and yogurt producer.
Lactalis, founded in 1933, owns popular brands such as Batavo, Président, and Elegê. With this latest investment, the company aims to strengthen its leadership in the Brazilian dairy sector while increasing production efficiency.
