Nestlé Chile has begun local production of infant formula under the Nidal brand at its Cancura plant, strengthening its role in Chile’s dairy industry and contributing to national economic growth.

Nestlé Chile has officially launched the local production of infant formula under its Nidal brand at the Nestlé Cancura plant, located in Osorno, Los Lagos Region. This marks a significant milestone for the company, as Chile becomes the third country in Latin America, following Mexico and Brazil, to produce these formulas. The strategic decision aligns with Nestlé’s commitment to sustainable growth, innovation, and social responsibility in the dairy sector.

Rodrigo Camacho, executive president of Nestlé Chile, emphasized the importance of this move for both the company and the country, highlighting its contribution to the local economy, innovation, and the development of human capital. He also noted that this initiative supports the National Complementary Feeding Program (PNAC), which aims to provide nutritional support to babies across the nation.

With an investment of over one million dollars, the project began with the production of Nidal 3 in April 2024, followed by Nidal 1 in August. The company has focused on technological advancements, installing a new production line and enhancing packaging processes to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

Nestlé Chile is also fostering relationships with local dairy producers in the southern part of the country, using fresh milk to craft the infant formula. This initiative contributes to the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices, benefiting both the environment and local communities. By reducing transportation-related carbon emissions, the company is strengthening the sustainability of its value chain. The Cancura plant, inaugurated in 2012, has become a key player in the national dairy industry, employing 300 workers and producing 30,000 tons of powdered milk annually.
