Aavin is transforming Tamil Nadu’s dairy sector with a new mobile app and 500 advanced bulk milk coolers. The app will provide real-time data on milk production and animal health, while the coolers will monitor milk quality and dispatch via cloud connectivity. These innovations aim to improve milk quality, streamline operations, and increase Aavin’s capacity from 47.5 lakh to 66 lakh liters per day. The program also offers financial support for cow purchases and native breed preservation.
Aavin, Tamil Nadu’s prominent dairy cooperative, is set to revolutionize the state’s dairy industry with the introduction of a comprehensive mobile application and advanced bulk milk coolers. The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of milk production, quality control, and overall management in the dairy sector. With a focus on real-time data profiling and technological integration, this program represents a significant step forward for Tamil Nadu’s dairy industry.
Real-Time Profiling with Mobile App
Dairy Development Minister T Mano Thangaraj recently announced a groundbreaking initiative in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The state will deploy an Android mobile application designed to provide real-time profiling of milk producers. This app will capture crucial data about producers, their animals, milk production volumes, and fodder availability. The goal is to create a detailed database that can inform better decision-making and streamline dairy management practices.
The application will allow users to monitor various aspects of dairy farming, including:
- Milk Production:Track daily milk yields and assess trends over time.
- Animal Health: Record and review health metrics and vaccination schedules.
- Fodder Availability: Manage and optimize feed resources to ensure adequate nutrition for dairy cattle.
- Operational Efficiency:Evaluate and improve operational practices based on real-time data.
This app aims to provide dairy farmers and cooperative societies with actionable insights, ultimately improving milk quality and production efficiency.
Advanced Bulk Milk Coolers
In addition to the mobile app, Aavin is investing in 500 bulk milk coolers equipped with automatic milk collection system software and cloud connectivity. These coolers will be installed across 600 milk producers’ cooperative societies in various districts, including Pudukottai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Vellore, Tirupattur, Thanjavur, Dindigul, Villupuram, and Kallakurich.
Key Features of the Bulk Milk Coolers:
- Automatic Milk Collection:Streamlines the milk collection process, reducing manual handling and potential contamination.
- Cloud Connectivity: Enables real-time monitoring of milk arrival, quality, and dispatch. Data collected can be accessed remotely for analysis and reporting.
- Spot Acknowledgment: Provides immediate confirmation of milk receipt and quality, ensuring transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
These advanced coolers will play a crucial role in maintaining milk quality and ensuring efficient processing. By integrating technology with traditional dairy practices, Aavin aims to enhance the overall management of milk production and distribution.
Enhancing Milk Procurement Capacity
The initiative also includes efforts to increase Aavin’s milk handling capacity. With ongoing upgrades to plants in Chennai and district unions, Aavin’s capacity is set to rise from the current 47.5 lakh liters to 66 lakh liters per day in the coming years. This expansion will support the increased milk production and improve the cooperative’s ability to meet growing demand.
Financial Support and Training
To support dairy farmers, Aavin has facilitated the purchase of 22,360 cows through subsidised loans from nationalised banks, with interest rates reduced to 9% from the regular 15%. Additionally, cooperative societies have provided interest-free loans totaling Rs. 123 crore, and there are one lakh pending applications for purchasing new milch cows.
For those interested in preserving native bull breeds, the department is offering mentorship, loans, and training to young farmers. This initiative aims to promote indigenous breeds and support sustainable dairy farming practices.
Aavin’s introduction of a mobile app for real-time profiling and the installation of advanced bulk milk coolers represents a major advancement in Tamil Nadu’s dairy sector. By leveraging technology to enhance data collection, improve milk quality, and streamline operations, these initiatives promise to boost the efficiency and sustainability of dairy farming in the state. With increased support for farmers and a focus on technological integration, Aavin is set to drive significant improvements in the dairy industry.
