MooRakshak Bio Sciences, an IIT Kanpur-incubated startup, is transforming Indian dairy farming through AI-powered precision nutrition, boosting yields and sustainability.
MooRakshak Bio Sciences, a promising agritech startup incubated at IIT Kanpur, is reshaping India’s dairy sector through advanced technology. The company uses artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing to deliver precise, data-driven feed recommendations tailored to each cow, significantly improving dairy productivity and sustainability.
By assigning unique biometric IDs to individual cattle, MooRakshak enables stage-wise nutritional planning based on specific animal needs. This personalized approach optimizes feed efficiency, enhances milk yields, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions—offering a triple win for farmers, animals, and the environment.
The startup’s mission is rooted in empowering India’s 80 million small and marginal dairy farmers. Through its cost-effective and scalable platform, MooRakshak improves farm-level decision-making and increases incomes while promoting sustainable agriculture. It is also contributing to national food security goals by improving productivity per animal.
MooRakshak’s innovations have earned national and international recognition. It was selected under the Ministry of Electronics and IT’s TIDE 2.0 program and represented India at global tech events like GITEX 2024. The company was founded by alumni from IIM Ahmedabad, Universität Rostock, and Symbiosis, combining interdisciplinary expertise to solve core challenges in the Indian dairy ecosystem.
As the dairy industry navigates the challenges of scale, efficiency, and sustainability, MooRakshak exemplifies how homegrown AI solutions can transform traditional farming into a data-driven, environmentally conscious sector.
