Arla Foods, in collaboration with Denmark’s Consulate General and the Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S), has initiated efforts to improve dairy nutrition, access, and sustainable production in Nigeria. A workshop held in Lagos on November 19, 2024, provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss solutions for enhancing the local dairy industry, addressing challenges like poor infrastructure, cold storage issues, and inefficient supply chains. The collaboration aims to boost nutrition, food security, and overall dairy sector growth in the country.
Nigeria, represented by Arla Foods, alongside the Consulate General of Denmark and the Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S), announced a new initiative to explore innovative solutions aimed at enhancing dairy nutrition, access, and sustainable production in the country. This collaboration seeks to address key challenges facing Nigeria’s dairy sector while promoting growth and sustainable practices.
Arla Foods, a global leader in dairy production, has been at the forefront of efforts to improve nutrition and access to quality dairy products in Nigeria. In partnership with other key stakeholders such as the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), a workshop was held in Lagos. The event provided a platform for experts, regulators, and industry leaders to discuss strategies to boost the local dairy industry and address challenges like poor infrastructure, inadequate cold storage facilities, and inefficient supply chains.
During the workshop, titled ‘Nutrition in the Dairy Sector,’ participants explored practices and policies that could drive growth in Nigeria’s dairy sector. Dr. Eva Edwards, Director of Food Safety and Applied Nutrition at NAFDAC, emphasized the importance of collaboration between industry players and regulators to drive the dairy sector forward. She stressed the need for consumer education to increase awareness of the nutritional benefits of dairy products.

Jette Bjerrum, the Danish Consul General, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of international collaboration. She stated,
