Kerala’s leading dairy cooperative, the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma), is set to launch its international expansion by exporting dairy-based products to Gulf nations starting July 2025. This marks a significant step for Milma as it ventures beyond domestic markets, with a focus on the Gulf, United States, and Maldives.
Milma has partnered with the UAE-based Lulu Group, one of the largest retail chains in the Middle East, to distribute its products through Lulu’s extensive network of malls and retail outlets across the Gulf region. The first phase of the export strategy includes popular dairy and ready-to-eat items such as Paneer Butter Masala, Instant Pulisseri Mix, Ready-to-Drink Palada Payasam, Flavored Milk, and Instant Milk Powder.
As part of the larger international strategy, Milma plans to introduce ice creams in 15 different flavors to cater to diverse consumer tastes. The organization projects a revenue target of ₹1,000 crore (approx. USD 120 million) from global markets in the coming years.
Milma’s expansion into international markets reflects our consistent efforts in innovation and quality assurance. This venture opens new avenues for Kerala’s dairy farmers and strengthens the global presence of Indian dairy brands.”
Chairman K. S. Mani, Milma
In the fiscal year 2024–25, Milma reported a total revenue of ₹4,327 crore, with major contributions from its regional milk unions. The organization is now focused on tapping into new markets to fuel further growth and ensure long-term sustainability for its cooperative members.
Milma’s entry into the global dairy export market aligns with India’s broader goals of promoting indigenous industries on the world stage, showcasing both traditional flavors and modern processing excellence.
