Italy and India have signed a Veterinary Health Certificate agreement to facilitate the export of milk and milk products from Italy to India. Signed in New Delhi, this marks a key milestone in bilateral trade and dairy collaboration.
In a significant development for international dairy trade, Italy and India signed a Veterinary Health Certificate agreement for milk and milk product exports from Italy to India. The signing ceremony took place in New Delhi, attended by Italy’s Ambassador to India, Antonio Bartoli, and India’s Undersecretary Varsa Joshi, representing the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying.
The agreement—officially approved by the Italian Ministry of Health—establishes clear sanitary and veterinary protocols, ensuring that Italian dairy products meet India’s import safety requirements. This move is expected to significantly boost bilateral trade in the dairy sector and open doors for future collaboration in dairy quality assurance and food safety.
The certification enables smoother procedures for the import of Italian cheese, milk powders, and other milk-based products, promoting consumer safety and fostering trust in international dairy transactions.
Ambassador Bartoli highlighted the importance of transparent food safety frameworks in enhancing trade ties between the two countries, while Indian officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring high standards in dairy imports.
This certification not only streamlines compliance requirements but also reflects growing cooperation between Europe and India in the food sector.
