Namsai Fresh Cow Ghee from Arunachal Pradesh, India, has received national recognition under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme. Produced by Namsai Dairy Ltd., a local dairy farmers’ producer organization, the ghee represents purity, sustainability, and traditional dairy excellence from the hilly terrains of Namsai.
On June 10, 2025, Namsai Fresh Cow Ghee, a premium local dairy product, achieved national recognition under the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme, part of the Government of India’s broader ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign. The program aims to identify and promote unique traditional products from underdeveloped regions across the country.
Produced by Namsai Dairy Ltd., a Dairy Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) comprising 120 local members, the ghee is crafted using traditional methods from cream derived from desi cows reared on natural grazing lands in community forests. The organization was established with a vision to strengthen rural economies and empower dairy farmers in the region.
The Mini Dairy Plant where the ghee is processed was set up in Deobeel village during 2022–23, playing a vital role in creating sustainable livelihoods in Namsai district. Alongside ghee, Namsai Dairy Ltd. also produces milk, paneer, cream, dahi, and sweets, all made with a commitment to purity and free from preservatives or additives.
Delighted to see Namsai Fresh Cow Ghee gaining national recognition under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme. It is a proud testament to the dedication of our dairy farmers and the purity of our state traditions. Kudos to Namsai Dairy Ltd for championing sustainable local enterprise. Let’s continue to support and celebrate our local treasures.”
