Farm Dairy from the Netherlands and PlanetDairy from Denmark have launched a sustainable milk blend combining traditional dairy and plant-based ingredients, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and appeal to environmentally conscious consumers across Europe. The collaboration was officially announced in Amsterdam on May 28, 2025.
In a significant move toward eco-conscious dairy innovation, Farm Dairy, a Dutch dairy company, and PlanetDairy, a Danish food tech company focused on sustainable dairy alternatives, have announced a strategic partnership to launch an innovative milk blend. This new line merges traditional dairy with plant-based ingredients, aiming to provide environmentally responsible options without compromising on taste or nutrition.
Unveiled during the PLMA’s World of Private Label International Trade Show in Amsterdam, the product line includes skimmed, semi-skimmed, and whole milk variants, each offering a minimum 20% reduction in CO₂ emissions, verified by CarbonCloud. This hybrid approach aligns with growing consumer demand for food that supports environmental goals.
Jakob Skovgaard, co-founder and CEO of PlanetDairy, shared that the goal is to serve dairy enthusiasts who are also environmentally conscious. “After the success of our blended cheese products in the Nordics, we’re now addressing the largest dairy category—milk,” he stated.
Arend Bouwer, managing director of Farm Dairy, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, adding, “We are excited to explore new opportunities within the evolving dairy sector.”
Both companies are positioning the new product range for flexitarian consumers—those who enjoy dairy but seek environmentally friendlier choices. The products will be priced and flavored to match traditional dairy, ensuring accessibility without sacrifice.
Looking forward, Farm Dairy and PlanetDairy plan to expand the dairy-plant blend category to include yogurts and sweet dairy desserts, indicating continued innovation in sustainable dairy alternatives.
This collaboration marks a key development in the dairy industry’s shift toward climate-conscious production and consumption.
