Nestlé’s profits dropped by 2.9% in 2025, attributed to a decrease in consumer demand amid challenging economic conditions, despite ongoing cost-saving efforts.
Nestlé, the Swiss multinational food giant, has reported a 2.9% decline in its net profits for 2025, which amounted to 10,884 million Swiss francs (approximately 11,500 million euros). The drop in profits is attributed to a slowdown in consumer demand amid a challenging economic environment. Nestlé, headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland, has been a global leader in the food and beverage sector, offering a wide range of products from baby foods to pet care, and nutrition to health science.
In 2024, the company experienced a year-on-year sales decline of 1.8%, amounting to 91,354 million Swiss francs (around 96,700 million euros). Despite the difficult economic conditions, CEO Laurent Freixe expressed confidence in Nestlé’s overall performance, highlighting that the company had managed to achieve strong figures under challenging circumstances.
Freixe also emphasized the strategic measures Nestlé is taking to navigate the turbulent economic landscape. The company plans to increase investments and continue its cost-saving program, which aims to reduce expenses by 2,500 million francs (2,600 million euros) over the next three years. Already, Nestlé has secured savings of 300 million francs (317 million euros) for 2025 as part of these ongoing efforts.
These measures are part of Nestlé’s strategy to maintain resilience and profitability while dealing with reduced consumer spending during a time of economic uncertainty.
