Danone Thailand partners with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to provide non-invasive screening tools for Iron Deficiency Anemia in children. This initiative aims to improve early detection and health outcomes for Thai children, addressing a significant public health concern in Bangkok.

Danone Specialized Nutrition (Thailand) Co. Ltd. is taking significant strides to enhance child health in Bangkok by partnering with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to provide essential screening tools for Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA). This collaboration is part of a broader effort to improve early detection of IDA among children across the city and is aligned with Bangkok’s comprehensive health screening initiative.

With approximately 24.9% of Thai children aged 6 to 59 months affected by anemia, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), early detection is crucial for mitigating the long-term effects of IDA on children’s health and development. The non-invasive screening tools supplied by Danone will facilitate easier and faster access to testing, which is critical in preventing potential impacts on brain development, immunity, and physical growth.

Danone’s contribution includes screening tools for testing 3,000 children, reflecting the increasing birth rate in Bangkok, which has risen from 82,169 births in 2022 to 85,582 in 2023. This initiative highlights Danone Thailand’s commitment to addressing IDA in children and improving health outcomes for the younger generation in the country.

Danish Rahman, General Manager for Southeast Asia and ISEA Lead at Danone SEA, emphasized the company’s dedication to raising awareness and expanding access to IDA screenings. He stated that by providing these non-invasive tools to the BMA, Danone ensures timely screening and intervention for children, helping to prevent both short- and long-term effects of IDA. This collaboration is a reflection of Danone’s ongoing mission to improve health and nutrition in Thailand, supporting its global “One Planet. One Health” vision.

Duangporn Pinjeesekikul, Deputy Director of BMA’s Health Department, expressed appreciation for the partnership, underscoring the importance of early screening in protecting child health. She noted that integrating these non-invasive IDA screening tools into health check programs will proactively safeguard the health of Bangkok’s children, contributing to a healthier future for the community.

Through this partnership, Danone Thailand and the BMA are taking essential steps to enhance child health and ensure that the younger generation in Thailand receives the necessary support to thrive.
