Goa Dairy is set to expand its operations with a new milk processing facility in Usgao, Goa, as part of a significant development plan aimed at meeting the state’s dairy needs for the next 50 years. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant following an inspection of the current Goa Dairy plant and discussions with its personnel.

The new facility in Usgao marks a pivotal step in Goa Dairy’s expansion strategy. CM Sawant emphasized that this new plant will play a crucial role in ensuring the state’s long-term dairy requirements are met, reinforcing the dairy’s commitment to providing fresh, high-quality products to the local market.

A Turnaround in Operations

After a challenging period, Goa Dairy is now reporting profitability under the supervision of an administrator. CM Sawant highlighted that the successful turnaround is largely attributed to the newly appointed operational management team, which has effectively overseen the dairy’s operations and improved its financial performance.

The new Usgao plant will complement the existing dairy facilities at Curti, which will continue to operate. The plant is designed not only for milk processing but also for the production of various dairy products. With support from the Central government, this expansion aims to enhance Goa Dairy’s capacity and efficiency.

Enhancing Freshness and Convenience

The new factory in Usgao will enable Goa Dairy to offer milk to customers within 24 hours of procurement without the need for preservatives. This initiative guarantees that consumers receive fresh, premium milk, aligning with Goa Dairy’s commitment to quality and freshness. Currently, the dairy processes about 50,000 gallons of milk daily.

Innovative Community Support Programs

In addition to the new plant, Goa Dairy continues to engage in innovative community support programs. The dairy has introduced a unique initiative where customers can exchange empty milk packets of any brand for a half-liter milk packet from Goa Dairy. Additionally, Goa Dairy supports educational institutions by offering flavored milk to students at a 50% discount, providing them with an affordable and nutritious drink at just Rs 10.

The new facility in Usgao and ongoing community programs reflect Goa Dairy’s dedication to improving dairy production and supporting local communities. With these advancements, Goa Dairy is poised to enhance its services and meet the growing demands of the region’s dairy sector.
