Danone Canada has announced a recall of Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt sold at Costco between September 3 and September 19, 2024, due to potential health risks from yeast contamination. Consumers are advised to return affected products for a refund.

Danone Canada has initiated a recall of Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt sold at Costco warehouses between September 3 and September 19, 2024. This recall affects products marked with “best before” dates of October 18, 20, and 22. The yogurt, packaged in sets of 24, may contain a type of yeast that could pose health risks, particularly for individuals with compromised immune systems.

Health Risk Assessment

While the food safety risk associated with this yeast is considered low—given that it does not typically grow at refrigerated temperatures—Danone Canada strongly advises consumers not to consume the affected product. The company is encouraging anyone who purchased the yogurt to return it to Costco for a full refund.

Recent Recalls

This incident marks the second recall from Danone Canada within the same month. Earlier, on September 12, the company recalled Kirkland Signature Greek Yogurt due to the detection of mold.

Company Response

Danone Canada has expressed its apologies for the inconvenience caused by these recalls and is urging customers to inform others who may have purchased the affected products. The company remains committed to ensuring the safety and quality of its products.
