BL Agro, a leading FMCG company in India, inaugurated a high-tech cattle breeding and dairy centre in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on March 10, 2025. The Rs 1,000 crore project, named Satat Kamdhenu, aims to enhance dairy production, support local farmers, and promote sustainability through circular practices. The initiative, launched under the company’s subsidiary BL Kamdhenu, integrates advanced breeding technologies and bio-methanation facilities to create a sustainable dairy ecosystem.
BL Agro, one of India’s leading FMCG companies, has taken a significant step towards transforming the dairy and agriculture sector with the inauguration of a high-tech cattle breeding and dairy centre in Bareilly. The project, named Satat Kamdhenu, has been launched under BL Kamdhenu, the company’s subsidiary, with an initial investment of Rs 1,000 crore, expected to scale up to Rs 3,000 crore at full capacity.
Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan officially inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Cow Breeding and Dairy Technology, which aims to integrate sustainable practices with advanced breeding techniques. The facility will initially house 5,000 indigenous cows, with plans to expand to 10,000 in the coming years.
BL Agro’s Satat Kamdhenu initiative focuses on a circular economy, minimizing agricultural waste while enhancing livestock productivity. The centre incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as in-vitro fertilization, quality feed production, and bio-methanation for compressed biogas generation. Additionally, the company unveiled Leads Agri Genetics, a new subsidiary dedicated to improving animal genetics and plant breeding to develop lower methane-emitting cattle breeds.
The project is designed to benefit local farmers by providing high-yielding cows, quality feed, and a buy-back system for milk and farm waste. According to BL Agro CEO Navneet Ravikar, the initiative will support 5,000 farmers in the next 2-3 years and eventually scale up to benefit 1-2 lakh farmers.
BL Agro Managing Director Ashish Khandelwal emphasized the company’s vision to create a self-sustaining dairy ecosystem that supports both environmental sustainability and economic growth. The event also saw the presence of BL Agro Chairman Ghanshyam Khandelwal, further underscoring the company’s commitment to revolutionizing dairy farming in India.
