Milkadamia’s new Flat Pack Organic Oat Milk revolutionizes food packaging with its 2D-printed design, reducing waste by 94% and costs by up to 30%. The product, launching in January 2025, promotes sustainability and convenience with a lightweight, customizable packaging solution.
Innovative Flat Pack Design Cuts Waste and Costs
Milkadamia, a renowned brand from the United States known for its commitment to regenerative farming and sustainable practices, has introduced a groundbreaking innovation in food packaging: the Flat Pack Organic Oat Milk. This new packaging solution is set to redefine industry standards and significantly reduce environmental impact.
Unveiled in Denver at Newtopia Now in late August, Milkadamia’s Flat Pack is a 2D-printed milk alternative designed to tackle the growing issue of packaging waste. The proprietary 2D-printing process used for the Flat Pack reduces packaging waste by an impressive 94%, translating into a cost reduction of 20-30% for consumers. This initiative aligns with Milkadamia’s mission of responsible eco-stewardship, rooted in its origins as a small, family-owned macadamia farm.
Jim Richards, CEO of Milkadamia, emphasized the importance of this innovation. “Our Flat Pack line represents a major leap forward in packaging technology, reflecting our commitment to sustainability. It empowers consumers to make eco-friendly choices without the burden of traditional, wasteful packaging,” Richards stated.
Customizable and Sustainable: The Benefits of Flat Pack Milk
The Flat Pack offers several benefits, including a significant reduction in packaging weight by 85%, which improves fuel efficiency during transportation and further lowers the environmental impact of shipping. This new packaging also allows for customizable portion sizes, reducing food waste by extending the shelf life of the product to about two years.
Milkadamia’s Flat Pack Organic Oat Milk is designed to be easy to prepare, requiring just one cup of water per sheet to make fresh oat milk, with adjustments for desired consistency. The product does not need refrigeration, making it a convenient and sustainable option for consumers.
The rollout of the Flat Pack is set to begin in January 2025, with plans for wider distribution across major retailers. Future expansions will include additional varieties such as almond milk, continuing Milkadamia’s push towards more sustainable food products.
Richards hopes that the Flat Pack will inspire other companies to adopt similar pre-cycling practices, contributing to a less polluted and more sustainable future. “We envision a shift in the industry towards pre-cycling, and we hope our innovation encourages others to follow suit,” he added.
Milkadamia’s Flat Pack Organic Oat Milk represents a significant step in reducing packaging waste and supporting eco-friendly consumer choices, marking a new chapter in sustainable food packaging.
